Facial Proportion

Picture
The facial proportion project taught me a lot about how to draw faces using different materials. The process for doing this drawing was, first we took a picture and printed it, second we cut it in half the way we wanted, last we pasted it on another paper and started drawing. The materials we used to make it were a pencil, a blending stick, an eraser, and a paper. I had to draw every detail that I could see in the picture, even the imperfections and with the blending stick color the face with the shadows and the light. The goal of this project was to draw the half of our face with the exact same details as the photo. The purpose was to learn better how to draw faces and where each part should go and to learn how to shade better when drawing a face. This drawing was a way to learn a lot about faces and how to draw them in different situations.

This project was very hard to do in my personal opinion because we had to draw every detail. My weaknesses in this facial proportion project were to draw the half of the face the same as in the picture because I couldn’t fit where it was supposed to be and I got stressed. Also the part of shading because I tried but then the skin would be too dark, so I had to erase it and start it over again so it was a complete disaster. My strengths were doing the half of the mouth, the half of the nose, and the background because those were the easier parts and they did not have too many details like the eyes or the shape of the hair. The facial proportion project was fun but hard to do, but it taught me many methods for drawing faces.

The Map of My Life

Picture
In this project I learned about symbolism and how to paint better with water colors. The goal of the map was to show our life without using words, but just symbols; it was like the story of our life and what is important to us. I went through a process to do this project, which consisted in first answering some questions and putting a symbol in each of it, second, making a draft of the map in my sketch book, third, drawing everything in pencil on an A3 cardboard and last painting everything. The materials I used for doing the map were water colors, markers, color pencils, and paper. The purpose of doing it was so we could learn different techniques to painting with water colors and to learn how to use symbols to tell a story. It was interesting painting with water colors because I had already painted with them but never mixing them and using so many techniques I learned.

The Map project had a lot of weaknesses and strengths while making it, but it was very cool to make it. The weaknesses I had in making this project was painting little symbols with water colors because sometimes I would color out of the lines or if some shapes were together the colors sometimes got mixed. The strengths I had were mixing the colors to create a new one because sometimes I needed a lot of different colors and I did not want to repeat. Also drawing the symbols and organizing everything because I divided each island with certain information about me. Last, I painted the background very easily because it was a big space and it was the easier to paint.

Value Study

Picture
The Value Study project was my favorite because we used many techniques to painting each different space in the paper. The materials I used were markers and color pencils. First, I followed the instructions we had to create the different shapes with a black marker, second, I painted each space, even the smallest one with points, value, and with shapes. The goal of this project was to paint all of the white spaces we had in our paper with many colors and different techniques. The purpose of this project was to demonstrate what we learned about pointillism, value, and the usage of lines in a shape. This project was my favorite because I learned how to paint in different ways and not in the same plain way as ever.

The value project was the project that I liked the most in all the school year and it was very entertaining. I believe I didn’t have many weaknesses while doing this project, except while doing the shapes because I did not like how it ended being. My strengths were all about coloring because I like to color and my work ended up being very nice and I like how the color were combined. My favorite part about this project is that the paper is very colorful and not in a plain way, but with different methods that make it look pretty. The Value Study project taught me much about coloring in value and I will apply it in the drawings I’ll make in the future.
